MOTS-c
Also known as: Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA Type-c
A mitochondria-derived peptide that regulates metabolic homeostasis. Acts as an exercise mimetic, improving insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism.
Mechanism of Action
Activates AMPK pathway, enhances glucose uptake in skeletal muscle, promotes fatty acid oxidation, and regulates the folate-methionine cycle in the nucleus.
Dosing Protocol
5-10 mg subcutaneous 3-5x per week. Often used in 4-8 week cycles.
Open peptide calculatorReconstitution
5mg vial + 1mL BAC water = 5000 mcg/mL.
Storage
Lyophilized: -20°C. Reconstituted: 2-8°C.
Side Effects
- ●Injection site irritation
- ●Mild fatigue initially
- ●Generally well-tolerated
Key Research Findings
- ●Improved insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in obese mice
- ●Exercise-mimetic properties via AMPK activation
- ●Reduced diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance in animal models
